ESL Professional Development for Secondary Teachers
I know firsthand how challenging it can be to support English learners in secondary classrooms—especially in charter schools where teachers are juggling large class sizes, mixed proficiency levels, and limited resources.
As a former bilingual/ESL teacher and now curriculum creator serving teachers across the country, I design professional development that’s practical, hands-on, and ready for immediate use. My sessions are built around real classroom challenges, giving teachers the confidence and tools they need to help multilingual learners thrive. Sessions can be delivered virtually or in person, tailored to your school’s schedule.
How I Can Help
Every school has different needs, and professional development should reflect that. I work with leaders to design training that is practical, flexible, and tailored to your teachers.
Here are some areas we might focus on together:
Building routines that engage both newcomers and advanced students in the same class
Scaffolding strategies that make grade-level content accessible
Creating sustainable systems (like stations) that save teachers time
Preparing multilingual learners for language assessments (TELPAS, WIDA, or state exams)
Supporting content-area teachers who also serve English learners
Whether you need a one-time workshop or ongoing support throughout the year, I’ll meet your teachers where they are and give them tools they can implement the very next day.
Training Formats
Half-Day Workshop – Focused, interactive training on one key topic
Full-Day Training – A deeper dive into multiple areas with planning time built in
Ongoing Support Series – A series of sessions across the year to keep strategies fresh and consistent
Pre-Recorded Trainings – Flexible, on-demand sessions teachers can access anytime
All trainings are available virtually, pre-recorded or in person.
